Love Handles is a handmade handbag company based out of
a small 3rd floor bedroom in the west end of Toronto, Ontario.
There’s four main products to Love Handles Handbags;
Band Bags, Chic Bags, Vintage Bags & Vintage-Band Bags.
All the handles are handmade...
hand-cut, hand-sanded, hand-stained/painted & hand-varnished.
(Sometimes it becomes a family affair)
Because they are handmade, it keeps production costs low,
and allows for a variety of designs.
Love Handles Handbags tries its best to use reused and organic fabrics.
We all know that it’s good for the environment, but vintage fabrics have such a quality and charm to them that modern fabrics lack.
And organic fabrics are high in quality and so much softer than their chemically treated counterpart.
Ideally Love Handles will one day be able to design their own fabric, but until that day...
consider all fabric, thrift and vintage stores already scoured!

Love Handles all started with a trip in the spring of 2006 to Value Village
where a pair of wooden handles were found.
The first handbag was made out of a coliseum T-shirt that I loved but never wore.
Next I turned a local band’s T-shirt into a handbag and by August they asked me if I wanted to make more
to sell at their record release shows.
And so I did.
The initial problem was finding inexpensive wooden handles.
So I bought a jigsaw and made my own.
The second problem was the expense of T-shirts.
So I taught myself how to silk screen.
Basically, it was a great reason to start a business.
Being in full time university has prevented me from doing much else for the remainder of the school year.
However, now that it’s summer, Love Handles will be a fully operational company.
And by the end of summer,
I want every girl in Toronto to have Love Handles.
That’s right. I said it.
